[Elantra GT] CD/Radio problem

If you're putting in a new head unit, any single DIN unit should fit.
Generally, it's a straight changeout. If the new head unit has mounting
brackets, etc., you should probably *not* use them. Just use the angle
brackets that currently attach the stock radio to the bin underneath it.
The new head unit should stick out no further than the bin; if it does, the
dash fascia will not fit back on cleanly.

If you get a detachable face and trim bezel with your head unit, the trim
bezel probably will not fit through the opening and you won't be able to use
it. If you just put the faceplate on, you will be able to see bare metals
around the face plate. If you want to trim it out very simply, just put
black electrical tape around the top and sides of the head unit, before
putting on the dash fascia and before putting on the face plate (both of
those should overlap the tape; the tap just "blacks out" the gap.

This post in EXD, <http://www.elantraxd.com/forums/showthread.php?p=169273>,
discusses this in more detail and has pictures.

This has been discussed this week on ElantraClub as well in two different
threads. Here are some links to peruse:

Also, if you have any questions, just ask. ;-)

Yes two miles to work and some days I take the recumbent bike. I
am still on the original brakes. I like the stock radio but now is
the time to upgrade. I read at ElantraXD today that most headunits
are drop-ins not requiring a kit. A good spring project.

And a Happy New Year to you Wayne.
