[Elantra GT] '02 Hatchback will not open

Thanks for that.  I find no visible damage inside or out and after 
disconnecting that rod I am still unable to get the hatch to release.   Of 
course it is nearly impossible to see down into the mechanism but feeling 
around the lock/unlock lever seems to be moving the lock out of the way and 
then the vertical rod has some play up and down but will not unlatch it.  I 
guess I am going to be off to the shop but gosh I find they know as little 
as me and my experience is they do trial and error only plus is if they bust 
something they can pay.  lol
