[Elantra GT] '02 Hatchback will not open

    My next move would be to put down both rear seats, grab a 
flashlight and look for damage on the rear trunk area. Something
you were carrying in the trunk could have damaged the lock/hatch
mechanism. This would require climbing into the rear hatch with
it closed.
