If it was a shopping cart, the material left on your car is probably a 
smear of plastic rather than paint. In either case, a little lacquer 
thinner or citrus cleaner applied judiciously with a rag should remove 
it. It will also remove the wax in the area, but that's not a problem if 
you're going to have the dent pulled out. Wait until afterward, then wax it.
