[Elantra GT] Central Locking Problem

Ofer,

Hyundai has perhaps the best online shop manual around. It can be located
here:

http://www.hmaservice.com/authenticator/login?returnAddress=http%3A%2F%2Fwww
.hmaservice.com%3A80%2Fwebtech%2Fdefault.asp

You do have to register (free of course) but once inside you will find
schematics and so forth under the "Service Information" link at the top of
the left hand margin/menu bar.

In the Shop tab there is information on testing the actuators. Under the ETM
tab, there are schematics. The following is a description of the function of
the circuit on that schematics page --

"Battery voltage is supplied to both the door lock and unlock relay in the
door lock control module at all times from fuse 15. There is a metal rod
that links the left front door lock/unlock switch and the left front door
lock actuator. When the left front door lock/unlock switch is pushed to
lock, the metal rod then pushes the actuator switch in the left front door
lock actuator to the lock position. The ETACM receives the lock input signal
and then supplies power to the left/right rear, tail gate lock actuator
(5door only) and right front door lock actuator.

Each motor is grounded through a limit switch in the appropriate door lock
actuator. The ETACM will de-energize the relay coil when the limit switches
in the door lock actuators move to the unlock position. The door locks work
similarly when the left front door lock switch is pushed to unlock, except
that the electrical current goes through each motor in the opposite
direction."

There are also location indexes to help you find the components, inline
connectors and grounds.

There are two sets of schematics -- with and without ETACM. Not sure what
that is of if your car would have one -- you have to figure that our. There
is a location description photo for the ETACS (not ETACM) -- again, don't
know what that is but you can potter around in this online resource or maybe
someone else here knows. Finally I did not find the door lock control
module, but with persistence you may find it.

Finally there is a TSB 03-90-005 on the TSB tab that makes a correction to
the schematics and shop manual pages.

I take it that you do not have bumper to bumper warranty coverage, maybe
because you are not the original owner ...?

Regards,
Wayne

Subject: [Elantra GT] Central Locking Problem

Hi.
My Elantra 2003 GL has a Central Locking problem.
Here are the facts:

1.	The Remote Control "operate" on the driver's door only (lock and
unlock)
2.	When locking or unlocking the driver's door manually with the
knob or key the other 3 door do not change their "status".
3.	The fuse is OK.

My questions - where is the central locking unit is located and are there
any electraical schematics I can follow?

Thanks

Ofer
