... on the other hand I have had totally clueless salesmen, who knew *next 
to nothing* about the cars that they are trying to sell.

The easiest thing to do is pull off the glove box and have a look-see. The 
little door to the filter compartment is right there and easy to get at.

Sorry I can't answer definitively on the fit of the Tib air filter in the 05 
Elantra. I should not think that they would have changed from the 02 though. 
There was nothing wrong with the HVAC in the 02 to warrant a change in 
parts.
