You may wish to look into using an elastomeric membrane coating product.

Count on being out of the car for at lest 24 hours due to outgassing. The stuff smells
like a nail salon kiosk in a paper mill.
I found that my '02 had soft paint, and the area where the spare was accumulated
scratches and gouges rather quickly. The '05's paint seems a bit harder, but I'll have to live
with it a while to know. I'm a bit chary of the rally red because I fear non-fading red
is a rare commodity and probably more expensive than Hyundai wanted to use.
Since I knew from experience that the spare tire well is an area where cosmetic surface
rust can show up almost instantly, I did the entire area of the '02 with a can or two of bedliner spray
(can't remember whether I got away with only one can).
In terms of sound, I believe I lost a good bit of thrumming when I did that.
However, the new '05 seems quieter than the old '02, so I'm thinking Hyundai made
some improvements in how they did the undercoat. I don't believe the rear wheelwells
of the '02 were as "tarry" as the '05's for instance.
So for me, the use of the bedliner will be more of a cosmetic issue, just to prevent
dropped tools, etc. from making that wheelwell show its age in the future.
